For the money, this is a very nice lamp. Very simple and clean design. The incandescent bulb doesn't put out enough light for me so I used a 58watt screw in circline florescent bulb. Much better. It is now equivalent to a 200watt bulb. Also, you don't see the bulb sticking out from the lamp like the other reviewer stated.
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Avoid this lamp: It tilts to the side, the light switch doesn't work properly, and the bulb sticks out the top ruining the design. It was a complete waste of money. I bought two and they both have all the same problems.
